Glass fibre matts
СThe glass mat is a reinforcing material for fiberglass based on polyester resins. It is a non-woven web of chopped glass roving interweaved chaotically and joined with a powder or emulsion binder.
Glass mats are used in shipbuilding, automotive industry for the manufacture of boat hulls, car bumpers, etc. In industrial construction: for hydro-protective coatings, reinforced self-leveling floors, as well as thermal insulation materials. In road construction, glass mats are used to reinforce asphalt concrete pavements, to strengthen slopes.
The fiber is made of E-type glass with low (about 1%) alkali content.
The most important characteristic of a glass mat is the surface density which usually varies from 100 to 900 g/m2.
